The Deputy Minister of Communications, Mr. Gideon Quaicoo says in 10 years, the internet is expected to become as common as gas or electricity.
He said Google’s Internet Chief, Vinton Cerf, predicted that by 2016, everything from the family fried to the office coffee pot, heating, cooling and security systems will be managed through the internet. Mr. Quaicoo stated these at an ICT seminar and launch of Asian school of Cyber Law of India which has a branch now in Ghana. The institute would offer the chance for ICT students to learn skills from the net.
The deputy Minister of Communications said as internet offers consumers more choice and easier ways to do things, crime on the net should be fought and won. He said ‘Sakawa’ boys who use intenet to dupe people should rather learn to be ICT experts to get good jobs in the ICT industry rather than their illegal activities. The deputy minister said soon most parts of Ghana would access internet for a maximum benefit for all.
